OVERVIEW

WE AIM TO USE THE BESTPOSSIBLE MATERIALS

Sustainability and performance, we believe they go hand-in-hand. Reducing our carbon footprint is a core philosophy at Rockay, and one of the biggest factors is the materials we use in our socks, sleeves, apparel and accessories. Wherever we can, we use recycled and sustainable materials and technologies.Trust us when we say that we are continuously exploring and sourcing out better options to help enhance your performance, reduce impact and be a leader in implementing the most innovative technologies and materials out there.Learn and discover more about what we use in our products.

ECONYL®

ECONYL®shares much of the same Rockay principles, producing premium quality that can claim to be world-class, as well as making a meaningful impact on the industry. In order for us to deliver high-end performance wear we use ECONYL®’s premium regenerated Nylon, derived from marine plastic waste. It is superior to standard Nylons readily available, and better yet, it's infinitely recyclable. This is a fabric that is pioneering the alternative to standard Nylon, which originates from incredibly damaging crude oil. ECONYL® reduces global climate impact by up to 80%.

POLYGIENE® ANTI-ODOR TECHNOLOGY

We addPolygiene®and its unique ‘Stay Fresh Technology’ that prevents the growth of odor-causing bacteria, to keep our customers working out longer, and fresher – cutting back on regular workout gear laundry loads.Polygiene® is bluesign® approved which means that it has been thoroughly scrutinized and given the ‘green light’ for their environmental impacts. Polygiene® is a permanent addition to a fabric, made from recycled silver salt, which is the ingredient that keeps fabrics feeling and smelling good time after time. If Rockay consumers cut-back on washes by x10 they would reduce 47 million tons of carbon dioxide emissions, and save 4.5 billion cubic meters of fresh-water globally.

S. CAFɮTECHNOLOGY

Rockay are always looking to push the boundaries of what’s possible, and as such implementingS. Café®polyester, an ingenious reuse of coffee grounds, was non-negotiable.The benefits include a power to naturally absorb body orders, while microscopic holes within the yarn have the power to reflect UV rays. At an estimate, one piece of Rockay apparel uses the grounds of about three cups of coffee. This ingenious reuse of humble coffee bean grounds beats traditional fibres hands-down – it truly is an eco-friendly, durable, breathable textile, and is up to 200% faster in drying-time compared to cotton.

RECYCLED POLYESTER

Part of our mission is to reduce the usage of new plastics, so instead of utilizing new materials to create polyester, Rockay at the very least makes use of existing plastics regenerated into recycled polyester. One kilogram of ocean plastic waste can be turned into the same amount of recycled polyester. In opting for recycled, we are saving energy in the production process by 50% compared to a brand new polyester – generating 70% less C02 carbon emissions.

SEAQUAL® YARN

In collaborating withSEAQUAL®YARN, Rockay are giving our athletes the same performance benefits from a traditional polyester, but with a significantly lower environmental-impact.SEAQUAL® YARN is an initiative that is dedicated to giving new life to marine plastic waste. This polyester alternative offers all-but identical properties and qualities to a virgin polyester, but in contrast its environmental footprint is incomparable. SEAQUAL® plays an important role in cleaning up marine environments and reduces carbon emissions by 60%, compared to using a non-recycled polyester.

ELASTANE

Rockay usesElastanein performance products for its exceptional stretch, durability and breathability. Helping you to perform to your potential. It is, for now, a necessity to use Elastane (despite it being a synthetic fabric) with it being widely used in sportswear for its tried and trusted abilities to handle all kinds of dynamic movement. Rockay uses Elastane the least in materials we use compared to our other eco-conscious materials. We’re focusing on transitioning to a recycled alternative, but we want to get it right so you feel no compromise when using our performance sportswear.
